Playin' Catchup
So much going on these days...House to get organized, wedding to plan, work to do, friends to see, who has enough time???
I'll back up a little bit and recap. Dad was in town a couple weeks ago. We had a really good time. He put up 2 shelves and a clothes rod in my closet. The side walls just had too much wasted space. Or maybe I just have too many shoes and clothes??? We also went to play games as we usually do and went to dinner one night. I think Vicki must have drugged the boys because Tyler almost fell asleep at the table and this was Vitross...He looks awake but isn't...CREEPY!

I finished the dining room wall, which was my project for before Dad got in town...

Last weekend Dylan and I went to The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (aka The Modern) with another couple. We went to see the Ron Mueck Exhibit. Very interesting. It was sculptures of people but they are either really really big or teeny tiny...They looked so real though, I thought they were going to open there eyes or bite me.

There is so much more to tell but I won't bore you with details of our life.
We are beginning to see and understand the pains of being homeowners. Our shower is leaking and it keeps getting worse. It was just a drip yesterday and has turned into a pouring today. I thought I would save the day this morning and shut off the water at the street. I opened the cover and first thing I saw was a snake, needless to say, I quickly closed the cover and left for work. Shower's do not fix themselves as I found out when I got home. Still leaking even worse. I can now take a shower without turning on the faucet. I tried to have Dad walk me through turning off the water since the snake was gone but I couldn't get the thing to turn so I have to wait for Dylan to get home. Oh well, I tried.
No new wedding plans. No dates, no location, no colors, no nothing. I'm stressed enough about the house right now so I'm taking one thing at a time. We are working on it though, slowly but surely we'll get it figured out and will be sure to let you all know.

I'M GETTING MARRIED!
Dylan and I went to Maine last week to spend some time with his family. We got in late Tuesday night.
WEDNESDAY
We went to breakfast and walked around Bar Harbor...

then we hiked up Pemetic Mountain...

then to the beach...

then we had dinner and then to the top of Cadilac mountain to watch the sunset.

It was a great day! Little did I know, the trip was only going to get better!
THURSDAY
We woke up, picked up some donuts at the store and brought them back to the house. After that a group of us had reservations at the Rockefeller Gardens, which were beautiful.

Dylan and I decided to head to the beach again for the afternoon, just the two of us.

After we spent the day at the beach, we were going to head to Otter Point to throw our rings in the ocean. (Background: when we graduated from high school, we were both heading to different schools, so we bought matching rings...we hadn't worn the rings in years so we decided it would be fun to throw them in the ocean, more sentimental purpose...new beginnings kind of thing since we just bought a house and all.) So, we drove to Otter Point and walked out over the ocean. He decided he was going to go first. I thought, "oh crap! I thought we were just throwing the rings in the water, I didn't have anything planned to say!" So he says something sweet along the lines of loving me forever because I'm perfect. (I may have added the last part, but I'm sure thats what he was thinking) Then he threw the ring in the ocean.

Now its my turn, I say my peace and then I throw my ring into the ocean. Then I turn around and He says, "Now your going to need something to replace that ring." Then he gets down on one knee and says, "Will you marry me?" I'm pretty sure, I said, of course then yes but its kind of a blur. I of course started to tear up a bit. He put the ring on my finger after much protest on my part, I was afraid I would drop it in the ocean, by accident. This is me right after he popped the question.

We walked back to the car and when I finally come to my senses, I tell him I have to call, my Mom, Dad, and sister to tell them. He asks me to wait till we get to the restauratn where we were meeting everyone for pop-over's. There isn't a good signal where we were so I probably couldn't have dialed out anyways. We pull up to Jordan Pond house, walk through the restaurant to the back where everyone is patiently waiting for us to arrive...As we walk to the back, I see a table of about 15 people waving, and Dylan says, "Do you still need to call your parents?" Right as he says that, I see my Dad...So here comes the tears...Then I see Barbara next to him and then my mom on the other side of the table. I couldn't believe it. There were lots of tears, and they weren't just from me either! So once I sat down I had to call Vicki since she was the missing link of the day. I told her what she already knew (she was actually the first to see the ring when he bought it a month or so ago.)
He pulled off the best/biggest/ultimate surprise ever. It was more than perfect with everyone there and I think I'm still in shock when I think about it.
FRIDAY
We hiked up Acadia Mountain then cooked out at Phil and Laura's place.

SATURDAY
For the most part, I was just along for the ride. I was up for whatever everyone else wanted to do. The only thing I requested during the week I was there was to go sailing. We chartered a sailboat for 6 people, plus the captain and went on a 3 hour sail...It was great!

After we finished sailing, the rest of the family met us at Beal's for lobster.

After dinner we all went into Bar Harbor for ice cream, drinks, and shopping.
Mom, Dad and Barbara left early sunday morning. Dylan and I had a farewell breakfast in Northeast Harbor and then he took me to the airport. He gets to stay for another week. Someone has to get back to work to support our future family!!! ;o)
The trip was one I will ALWAYS remember, with all my family there, current and future, it was such a surreal trip. I still feel like it was a dream.
So I'm back at home and have lots that I planned on doing while Dylan was still in Maine. Now that I have a wedding to plan, the house may have to take the back seat. I'm sure Dylan won't mind. hehe.
No wedding dates or locations yet. I'll keep you posted.
