Before we moved (over a month ago) we were busy busy busy (and nothing has changed). Ron and Liza came to help us pack up and empty out the attic, Druz took his first step, we packed lots of boxes, we had play dates, we packed some more and made some time for dinner with friends that we would be further away from for a while.
We also had some dreams dashed and new decisions to be made.
First of all, one of my recent posts was all about making grown up decisions. Sometimes that means going with your gut which sometimes doesn't line up with what you had envisioned.
We bought a lot in Trophy Club, or so we thought. Turns out it was a shady deal. We were so excited and saw the light at the end of the tunnel then in one quick minute, it all came crashing down. Or so it felt at the time. We were asked to revise some small things on the contract, which we agreed to. Apparently, in the real estate world, once you agree to the revision the original contract is void and technically there is no contract until the new one is signed. They claim to have received a better offer during the revisions. I think they had wind of another interested buyer and were stringing us along the whole time. They knew about the other offer but didn't want to pass us up in case the other offer fell through. All legal, just bad business.
This was actually the second lot that fell through for us in Trophy Club so we thought long and hard and prayed about it and decided someone was trying to tell us something. We changed our mind. Being a grown up, we are allowed to do that.
We decided to stay in Fort Worth. All the negatives I listed in my previous post are all things we will have to overcome but before making the decision to move to the burbs we really struggled with leaving or staying. So, as of today, we are staying!
The worst part was that after 9 hours of moving (we estimated it taking only four and we were paying by the hour!!!), we were tired and that's when we got the phone call. Dylan was sitting at the storage unit with the movers while I was at my mom's trying to get things organized. When he called me I thought for sure he was kidding, but unfortunately this was probably the first time my husband was serious.
We've moved passed all that now and have looked at a few houses but haven't found anything that we would be happy with. We anticipate it will take a little while. Being patient is hard but we have to think long term.
The beginning of the end
We found this in the attic and Tatum wanted to wear it. I love catching her expressions. She is definitely our little drama queen. No idea where she gets it.
My babies playing...nothing fills my heart more! I could watch this all day. She is just so sweet with him.
Moving precious cargo! Mom was nice enough to let us leave Druz at her house while we finished up at the house.
Playing with bubbles and trying to stay out of the way on moving day.
I asked Dylan to give me a couple hours to get some things done the day before we moved. He was a trooper and set out with the kids on foot.
Some family cuddle time while Ron and Liza were in town (Druz was already in bed).
Tatum helping G-Pop take apart the bed.
One of our new favorite places in Fort Worth, The WoodShed. The food is good and the atmosphere even better. We wanted to try it out before moving. I think this restaurant may have helped change our minds.
Beautiful sunset over the Trinity River from the WoodShed
Even Druz liked it!
We made some time for a couple play dates too. Tatum LOVES trampolines.
Pondering his next move
Even though things didn't work out in the end as we thought, there is a bigger plan for us and looking back at the last 5 years, we've had so many HUGE milestones in this house. So much life has been lived! Engaged, married, pregnant, baby #1, Dylan starting his own business, pregnant again(both in the same week!), baby #2, first words, first steps,...so many visitors and parties and good times and great memories made. I wouldn't change a thing, well, maybe that one time....ahhhhhhh, even that one...all unforgettable, can't appreciate the good without the bad, right?
I'm going to miss this house.
