Easter

Dylan, Tatum, and I went to church Easter morning (April 8).  We had every intention of going to our church in Fort Worth but at the last minute we decided to leave Druz at home with my mom because he is a NIGHTMARE if he hasn't napped and doesn't nap easy outside of home.  So, we too Tatum and went to Compass where my friend Alison sings.  It was a great service.  Tatum sat with is through the singing then got a little restless so we took her to the nursery for the last 20 minutes. We really enjoyed the service, the message is always great on Easter, and it was nice to see a familiar face on stage.

Easter Weekend

We had a busy Saturday before Easter (April 7)!
Dylan was taking a test for work to become certified with his ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant).  So while he set out for his test, I braved a 3 year old birthday part alone with my two munchkins.

Celebrating Myla's birthday at the park

Just chit chatting with the birthday girl.  Party was great.  Tatum had a blast and I only thought I lost her once.

Getting ready for his long day...before we left for our first party.

We came home after Myla's party so the kids could nap and to wait for Daddy.  Tatum found some giant Easter bunnies in the neighbors yard that she wanted to hang with for a bit.

Opening empty eggs, so disappointing.

Mommy...I want THIS egg!

After resting up and Dylan's arrival home (He passed his test...YAY!)  We headed out to another party.  This time we celebrated with Olivia.  They live on an acre and had the whole back yard transformed into party central!  This was the petting zoo and Tatum has no intentions of leaving this area.

Feeding a lamb

Dylan always on his phone and Druz enjoying the animals from up high.

Druz wanted in so bad but he wasn't walking yet and the last think I wanted was for him to roll around in animal poop.  One of the many times Tatum will tease her brother for not being old enough to participate in the same activities as her.

The bunny was about 10 times the size of the pig.  Who would have thought?!?!?

One of two swing sets in the back yard, in addition to a bounce house

Still in the corral, holding a bunny

Riding a horse.  She was in heaven!

We've been so busy we never even had a chance to color eggs and since that is an Easter requirement, after we got home from the second party, I let her stay up late and color eggs with Grandma.  She was so proud of them.

She had a very fun and busy day!

Busy First Week

The first week (March 24-31) with Mom was busy!  I tried to get organized and attempted to keep some type of routine for the kids.  They are now sharing a room, which is interesting but they are making the best of it and its surprisingly going well.

Sleepy baby, couldn't even wait for dinner

Tatum got two fish, she named them Friend and Rosa.  Friend took a trip within 24 hours of arriving but she has returned and all is well.  She said she enjoyed her vacation.  Rosa was struggling for a while and we thought we were going to lose her shortly after Friend but as Dylan put it, she "Rosa from the dead."  Apparently over-feeding can be deadly and after a good bowl cleaning Rosa decided it wasn't quite her time yet.   I'm not sure how my children have survived as long as they have.  I couldn't even handle two fish for 24 hours.

We took lots of walks.  The dogs seemed quite anxious so we had to run them around often

Tross hung out with us and took a walk with us one day.

We volunteered with our church at an elementary school that needed some help in Fort Worth.  We pulled lots of weeds in the flower beds, but there were lots of others there helping with building picnic tables, painting everything from the parking lot lines to the bathrooms, and so much more.  Unfortunately while we pulled the weeds, this little guy lost his home.

We brought Tatum.  One of our goals for 2012 is to take Tatum with us when we volunteer.  She did pretty good.  Her focus lasted about 20 minutes but she helped, which is what matters.

Taking a little lunch break from all our hard work.

Hard work is always rewarded in the end.  Time to play!

Another walk, she loves her brother.  She had to hold his hands the whole time.

I'm still taking the kids to their school in Fort Worth.  Since we are about 25 minutes away I'm only taking them once a week.  I have to get in all my Fort Worth hot spots the one day we are in the area so after school I took them to the zoo, Tatum's absolute favorite place!

Lonely Gorilla

We had dinner at Rio Mambo in Grapevine.  We were still trying to get organized and cooking was not even a thought in my head.

pushing

Tatum got her first time out for pushing her brother today.  I'm sure it's not the first time she has pushed him just the first time she was caught!

Playing Dress Up

With Carmen.

Thank goodness Carmen is so sweet with the kids because this might even annoy me.  She was just trying to relax this morning and Tatum couldn't resist.

Dog Eat Dog World

Before we moved (over a month ago) we were busy busy busy (and nothing has changed).  Ron and Liza came to help us pack up and empty out the attic, Druz took his first step, we packed lots of boxes, we had play dates, we packed some more and made some time for dinner with friends that we would be further away from for a while.

We also had some dreams dashed and new decisions to be made.

First of all, one of my recent posts was all about making grown up decisions.  Sometimes that means going with your gut which sometimes doesn't line up with what you had envisioned.

We bought a lot in Trophy Club, or so we thought.  Turns out it was a shady deal.  We were so excited and saw the light at the end of the tunnel then in one quick minute, it all came crashing down.  Or so it felt at the time.  We were asked to revise some small things on the contract, which we agreed to.  Apparently, in the real estate world, once you agree to the revision the original contract is void and technically there is no contract until the new one is signed.  They claim to have received a better offer during the revisions.   I think they had wind of another interested buyer and were stringing us along the whole time.  They knew about the other offer but didn't want to pass us up in case the other offer fell through.  All legal, just bad business.

This was actually the second lot that fell through for us in Trophy Club so we thought long and hard and prayed about it and decided someone was trying to tell us something.  We changed our mind.  Being a grown up, we are allowed to do that.

We decided to stay in Fort Worth.  All the negatives I listed in my previous post are all things we will have to overcome but before making the decision to move to the burbs we really struggled with leaving or staying.  So, as of today, we are staying!

The worst part was that after 9 hours of moving (we estimated it taking only four and we were paying by the hour!!!), we were tired and that's when we got the phone call. Dylan was sitting at the storage unit with the movers while I was at my mom's trying to get things organized.  When he called me I thought for sure he was kidding, but unfortunately this was probably the first time my husband was serious.

We've moved passed all that now and have looked at a few houses but haven't found anything that we would be happy with.  We anticipate it will take a little while.  Being patient is hard but we have to think long term.

The beginning of the end

We found this in the attic and Tatum wanted to wear it.  I love catching her expressions.  She is definitely our little drama queen.  No idea where she gets it.

My babies playing...nothing fills my heart more!  I could watch this all day.  She is just so sweet with him.

Moving precious cargo!  Mom was nice enough to let us leave Druz at her house while we finished up at the house.

Playing with bubbles and trying to stay out of the way on moving day.

I asked Dylan to give me a couple hours to get some things done the day before we moved.  He was a trooper and set out with the kids on foot.

Some family cuddle time while Ron and Liza were in town (Druz was already in bed).

Tatum helping G-Pop take apart the bed.

One of our new favorite places in Fort Worth, The WoodShed.  The food is good and the atmosphere even better.  We wanted to try it out before moving.  I think this restaurant may have helped change our minds.

Beautiful sunset over the Trinity River from the WoodShed

 Even Druz liked it!

We made some time for a couple play dates too.  Tatum LOVES trampolines.

Pondering his next move
Even though things didn't work out in the end as we thought, there is a bigger plan for us and looking back at the last 5 years, we've had so many HUGE milestones in this house.   So much life has been lived!  Engaged, married, pregnant, baby #1, Dylan starting his own business, pregnant again(both in the same week!), baby #2, first words, first steps,...so many visitors and parties and good times and great memories made.  I wouldn't change a thing, well, maybe that one time....ahhhhhhh, even that one...all unforgettable, can't appreciate the good without the bad, right?

I'm going to miss this house.

I know!

I've missed you too!

I can't believe it's been so long since I last blogged!  So much has happened in the last month, I couldn't possibly blog about every day or even every week but I will give you the Cliff's Notes version so stay tuned.  I'm loading pictures and writing as quickly as I can!
