Sticking to it

Today was the second day I have gone to work out. Since the gym just opened on friday and working out on the weekend didn't sound all that entertaining, I waited till monday to start my routine. Yesterday after work I went home, changed and then head to the gym. I took a look around to get familiar with the place then did 30 minutes of cardio (15 on the bike and 15 on the eliptical) then did a few stretches before heading to an abs class. I felt great.

Today I woke up at 5:30 and went to the gym for a swim. The pool isn't that big, just 3 lanes but I was the only one there and swam for 15 minutes. It may not sound like much but swimming is HARD! When I got out of the pool I seriously thought I would faint. I was looking forward to sitting in the hot tub for a bit before heading home to get ready for work but it was out of order...You'd think with the gym opening 4 days prior they would have everything working, oh well. Tomorrow there is a spin class at 5:45am I'm planning on attending. I finally remember why I used to work out so much in college. And its not just cause cute boys hang out at the gym!

24 Hour Fitness

I've been looking into gym meberships for a while now. One week I will say I'm going to do it and the next I just feel like I don't need it (not that I don't need to workout, just don't need to pay to do it in a gym) Well, today I finally did it. My friend called and was getting a membership and could add me for a less expensive rate. Dylan and I are now members of 24 Hour Fitness and I have a 3 month triathlon workout schedule I am hoping to adhere by. We'll see!

Stressed Out

Dylan and I went to see Blood Diamond tonight. Before I go on about the night I just want to say it was a great movie and I would definelty recommend it...But...BUYER BEWARE... I have just experienced an immense amount of stress in the last 3 hours. Every second in the movie is suspenseful. I couldn't think of anything to say after the movie because I was in a state of shock, not just because these types of things really and truly do happen in real life but the suspense of the movie had me so stressed out I wasn't sure I could finish the movie at times. I was glad when it was over, not because it wasn't a great movie, but because I was anxious to get my heart rate back to normal.

Then to make matters worse as we are driving home we get pulled over. Dylan happened to not pay a speeding ticket back in June so a copper decided it was his turn to give us a heart attack. One officer came up to my window and one to Dylan's. After watching Blood Diamond, I felt like we were about to get ambushed cause the guy kind of snuck up on me. Anywho, the officer decided not to throw him in jail since it was just a speeding ticket and not in his city and was just going to give him an insurance ticket because Dylan seemed to forget that too. Not sure about other states but its a law to have your insurance at all times and if you don't they can tow your car at any time. The officer was walking back to his car to write the insurance ticket but quickly came back to the car and said he had something more important to go to than sitting here writing no insurance tickets.

January News

Its been a while so I figured I should let everyone know I'm alive and well. Let me recap the last few weeks.

New Year's was fun. We hung out with friends...some old some new. Couldn't have asked for more.

Dylan and I took a trip to Fort Lauderdale last month. While it was snowing, icing and REALLY cold here in Texas, we figured it was the PERFECT time to escape to the 80 degree weather of Florida. We stayed in a really nice hotel with a great view. I layed out while Dylan had to work, it was quite enjoyable. We went to dinner with some old friends that now live in the area (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Fl). After his meetings were over we had a day to play and decided to get a couples massage, which was GREAT! The we just hit the beach and the pool for the rest of the day. Then we headed to Miami to spend some more time with friends and watch the Mavs beat the Heat. Dylan's birthday was while we were in Florida so we did a little celebrating for that too.

My heel broke at Sky Bar in South Beach. I was just walking along and thought I stepped in a hole...umm, I wish that were the case, my heel just fell off my shoe. Thank goodness I was wearing long pants!

After Florida we were back to reality, then my birthday came along. Dylan took me to dinner at The Melting Pot, which is a fondue restaurant. The food was great and the atmosphere was even better. I had dinner at my Mom's house one night for my birthday and Tross lost a tooth.

On the last day of the month, as we were reflecting on what a great month we had...this happened. But thankfully Dylan has learned his lesson and promises to never talk back to me again.

So maybe he just ran into a pole, but my story sounds better. ;o)

Snow in Texas

It was 75 degrees on monday and 20 degrees and snowing by wednesday afternoon. I don't get it. I knew it was supposed to get cold but we live in Texas for goodness sakes! The snow stuck and was still on the ground thursday morning. Its nice to see snow but I wish it could be 80 degrees and snow at the same time.

Back in the Big D

I'm back home and trying to get back to normal. My house is a wreck, I have enough laundry to do to last we well into 2007, and work is crazy right now.

I had a great time in Florida and it was great to see my friend Liz.

Thanksgiving in the Sunshine State

Thanksgiving was nice and the food was great. Dad and I made 4 trips to CVS within 24 hours and bought something we didn't need everytime. Any excuse to get out of the house while everyone was cooking. Each time we went we came back with more alcohol. I'm not sure how that happened, but I wasn't complaining. While we waitd for the food to be ready, Dad and I played bachy (sp?) ball and shuffle board. He won every game and was bragging about being the athlete of the family. Itold him, I wouldn't be dragging too loud about being good at old people sports!

This is Dad and I on our way to the store for the third time.

We brought some frosty beverages along the way and I wasn't sure what the rules were for drinking in the golfcart. I guess they are just about the same if you are in a car. Either way, I asked Dad, "What do we do if a cop pulls us over?" He told me, "Throw your beer at him and run like hell!" Don't worry Grandma, I didn't do it!

Here is a picture of me after we finally made it to the store.

We ate dinner and then I took a nap. of course Dad has to take a picture of me waking up...

Today Dad had a softball game so I got up and went with him. He is a really good hitter (for his age, of course...hehe) but he was a little rusty in the first few innings with defense. He swears he hasn't had any errors in 3 or 4 weeks but I still don't believe him. Either way, he played really well and scored about 3 runs. The final score was 19-6. They beat the other team of old guys pretty good.

After Dad's game we came home hung out for a little while so Dad could get showered and then headed out for a drink in the square. We took the golf cart out to Sumter Landing and had a drink at Gators. The whole area is pretty crowded. We went looking for a seat on the patio but they were full everywhere so we just got our drinks (which were 2-for-1) and just hung out on the bench outside.

The weather here is really nice, in the mid 70's. It was a little chilly this morning but it warmed up after softball. My friend Liz is coming to visit from Fort Lauderdale tonight so that will be fun to see her. I'll be sure to keep you all posted on the rest of my trip!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and remembered all that you are thankful for.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular

I'm baaaaaaack.......

I decided that I'm not going to let the weirdos run me out!

Yesterday I went to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with 4 other girls. It definetly got me into the christmas spirit. The seats could have been a little better (I had never been to this venue), oh well, lesson learned. Either way, it was a GREAT show and I would suggest everyone to attend if they are touring in a city near you. I have never seen the Rockette's before and they were just as I had imagined. I loved it! I had a couple favorite parts...The Parade of Wooden Soliders was really cool and so was the Nutcracker and then 12 Days of Christmas.

Date Night...Again

Dylan called me at work on Tuesday afternoon saying that he had another surprise for me. I honestly thought he had forgotten about our little date night cause we hadn't talked about it. Anyways, so he calls and says that I have to meet him somewhere after work around 5 but he couldn't tell me till later. I was ok with it, although the suspense was weighing on me. He calls around 3 and says, he thinks I have been stressed lately so he got me a mani pedi (manicure and pedicure) and the appointment was at 5. He wasn't going, just tried to throw me for a loop. After that we had planned to meet for appetizers and a drink then head home. I thought it was a great plan...well, it didn't exactly turn out that well. I was running low on gas, so I figured I would go right after work, then I heard about my mani pedi and figure I'll just go to Colleyville (where the appointment was) and get gas there. There are no gas stations between my office and where I was going. So, of course, with my luck, I ran out of gas on the highway. Funny part about it...I've run out in the EXACT same spot 3 times. I swear it has to be the way the road is slanted because that is just not right. Anyways, I waited in the 104 degree weather for my mom to come bring me gas. By that time I had called the salon to find out they closed at 6 so I wouldn't be able to make it in. So I get the gas, then head to my Mom's to get her camera that Dylan wanted to use. When I get there, she tells me she had it in the car...so now I have to drive all the way back to Irving (where I live). I call Dylan and because I had my appointment he was still at the office and then his boss saw him and asked to talk to him, for a minute, which turned into an hour. Needless to say I got home around 8, Dylan got home around 8:45 and picked up Chipotle on the way home. At least we got to spend an hour together, right???

I did get my mani pedi yesterday and it was awesome. I could understand everything they were saying and they weren't talking about me in another language to eachother. They spent extra time massaging my feet, legs, hands, and arms. I was unbelievable!

Date Night

Tuesday nights are now Dylan and I's date night. This is the beginning of his busy time of the year so we decided that Tuesday nights we would do something no matter what. As our first date night, Dylan surprised me and wouldn't tell me what the plan was. He just said we had somewhere to be at 8:15. I was wearing a linen skirt and flip flops. He made me close my eyes and finally let me open them once we pulled into the parking lot. He made an appointment and scheduled us dance lessons! This was the last thing I thought he would do and it was so much fun. We learned basic steps to Salsa and the Merengue. He totally caught me off guard and surprised me!

Busy Weekend

Dylan's parents were in town this weekend. Dylan and his Dad got a few things done around the house that Carmen had managed to destroy so that was nice.

My Dad gets in town on thursday. It will be nice to see him and I'm sure the boys will be excited. Its just like a weekend long party when he is in town.

We finally got a coffee table today and a computer desk at Ikea. I LOVE that place! If you've never been you really need to go, just once.

Vicki is in Cancun this week and gets back on thursday. I'm sure she is having fun.

The boys start school next monday. I just can't believe summer is over!

Cancun

I had a great time in Cancun last weekend. I'm still trying to recover from the lack of sleep but I wouldn't change a thing...

There were 2 ceremonies. One in a church, full mass (it was a catholic wedding) and the other on the beach at the hotel. Both were beautiful!

Here are some pics.

Me and Pais, we just got to the hotel.

My Aunt Cindy passed away yesterday from cancer, please say a prayer for my Uncle Mike and cousin Heather.
