IT'S A GIRL!

After waiting what felt like years, we finally got to find out the sex of our baby today. Most people thought it was going to be a boy, but I was clueless. Come to find out its a GIRL!

I'm pretty excited about the cute little dresses and bows she will be flaunting. Dylan is freaked out and already worried about paying for her wedding and having to deal with boys when the time comes.

We had a name and are now debating on two. So, once we make a final decision (maybe tonight) we will let you all know.

Here is a glimpse of Baby Girl Harig's photo shoot from today.

This picture is upside down but its her little feet on top of eachother.

This is her little face looking at us. Kind of creepy and devilish looking!

This is her little butt and her legs bent. This was the "definetly a girl" picture. The white line on the picture between her legs was the sonogram tech telling us that if it WAS a boy, there would be something out there.

And this is her sweet little profile, with her knees bent.

No sex for you

Get your mind out of the gutter.

Dylan and I had an appointment with the Baby Doctor yesterday. We were REALLY hoping to find out the sex of the baby. No such luck. We weren't scheduled for a sonogram and the sono tech is only in on mondays. We thought maybe we could beg the Doctor into doing it but he had to delivery a baby earlier in the day, unplanned, so he had a waiting room full of unhappy patients by the time we left at 5:30. Pretty disappointing.

But on the bright side, we have another appointment on Monday and this time we ARE scheduled for a sonogram AND we WILL find out the sex as long as Little Foot cooperates.

We got to hear the heartbeat again which was exciting, no matter how many times you hear it. I also gained my first 5 pounds of pregnancy. I'm still on track but I need to be careful. Baby like ice cream, frozen yogurt, and blizzards WAY too much.

The doctor and nurse bet on it being a boy the very fist time they saw it, he said it was just a guess, nothing to back it up but we will see.

Week 17

A few interesting tid bits about our baby at week 17:

  • The baby is about 5 3/4 inches long this week and weighs approximately 4 oz.
  • The baby's ears are fully formed and in the final position.
  • He/She is beginning to hear sounds outside the uterus, like voices and music.

  • The skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone

A few interesting tid bits about Mommy-To-Be:

  • My dreams are out of control

  • My brain is mush

  • I am feeling GREAT!

  • I now have a small bump, looks more like a developing beer belly

  • I haven't felt the baby kick yet but it should happen any day now. Everytime I feel anything, I sit still thinking maybe it was the baby, but no luck so far.

  • My new name for the baby is Body Snatcher.

A few interesting tids its about Daddy-To-Be:

  • He just can not wait to find out the sex of the baby. Few more days!

  • He still loves talking to the baby everynight. Tells him/her that he can't wait to meet them and to sleep well and then gives him/her a little kiss. Or he won't say anything thing at all and tell me its a secret between him and Little Foot.

  • Thursdays are his favorite day of the week now that he gets his weekly baby updates on that day.

  • He laughs when I want to get ice cream (every night) and tells me he can't wait till our next appt's weigh-in.

  • He is going to be the BEST DAD EVER!

Prenatal Yoga

I started Prenatal Yoga about a month ago. I can't do much else other than walk or swim so I figured this would be a nice change. I go twice a week and have really enjoyed the class. The instructor is your typical yoga/hippy character. She says things like, "Put your right hand on your heart and your left hand on your baby" in a soft quiet peaceful voice. They of course talk about natural childbirth and doulas. Which isn't something I plan to do (natural child birth) but its interesting to hear all the different aspects/options of the whole process in general.

There are girls that range from 14 weeks to 40 weeks so its neat to see people at different stages (and ages) and also hear what they are experiencing through each of their pregnancies. It makes us first-timers feel MUCH better, knowing that other woman are going through the same things.

We do some breathing techniques and then have share time, where we tell everyone how far along we are and if anything new has come up and how we are feeling that week. Then we do some poses and the instructor will come around and help us with anything we may have issues with (aches, cramps, etc). Then the last 10 minutes of class is Relaxation where we lay down on our left side with our right leg propped up with our bolsters. Its nice to just relax for a minute. I bet the women that already have at least one kid at home really enjoy this part. They just get to lay down with no distractions and just breath for a few minutes.

Once I have the baby they also have a class that is a Mommy and Me Yoga where you can bring your baby to, till they can crawl. I think that will also be pretty cool to be able to work out with the baby.

Weekend

Dylan's parents were in town over the weekend. We got a lot of things done around the house, which is nice since I will soon be out of commission due to an oversized belly.

I planted my flowers in all the pots on the front porch

Put new lighting in the flower beds as well as flowers in the flowerbeds. Liza was a HUGE help with the flower beds. It would have taken me days to get it all done without her.

Dylan and his Dad tilled up the backyard to plant grass seed.
Ron installed a motion detector light above the garage
Dylan and his Dad patched a whole in the house that a squirrel was getting in through. It would go in at night and scurry around for hours. So irritaing!

Friday night we had a dog party. Dylan's parents brought their dog, Belle, then we had our 2 dogs, Beth and Keith were over for dinner and they brought Chip, and then Chris stopped by and brough his dog Winston. They were running around having fun playing with all their new friends.
Chip and Beth

This was taken on sunday while we were just relaxingon the porch, the dogs were enjoying the sun themselves. Aren't they cute?!?!

Today I woke up PREGNANT!

WHOA!
I know I've been pregnant for 4 months now but today I woke up and there was actual physical evidence... A little hard bump protruding from my belly! No one else would notice but its MY BODY so I just about had a heart attack. So amazing.

I heard that one day I would just wake up pregnant but I was like, ya, ok. Well, its TRUE!

My clothes have been fitting more and more snug around my waist lately but I've been dealing with it. A few break downs here and there but for the most part I'm handling this new thickness around my waist rather well. OK, not really, I'm not handling it well at all, I even cried the other night, but I just keep telling myself its normal. I didn't know my waist was going to get chubby before the baby came, I guess I thought one day I would have a flat belly and the next I would have a big round hard bump. Not the case. People should really tell you this stuff. I think I have probably gained a pound of 2 since my last appointment and I hadn't gained any at that point so that is another thing that confuses me evern more. If I'm not gaining weight, where is all this stuff coming from?!?!?!

I am beginning to wear my BellaBand as of today, so hopefully that will give me another month or more (hopefully) before I have to switch to maternity clothes. Not that I'm afraid of them, I hear they are quite comfortable and that I will wonder why I waited so long once I transition over, but I don't have any pants and am dragging my feet about buying any till its an absolute must!

He's a natural

One of my friends from high school, Alison, had a baby a few weeks ago. Dylan and I wanted to meet the little one so we made a visit last night. Eric, Alison, and Aslynn were such a cute little family.

Dylan was SO adorable (and a little nervous) holding the baby but he looked so cute, he is going to be the best Dad ever!

Shower/Banquet

Last weekend we had lots of stuff going on.

First we had to head to our friend Christy's to set up for a shower I helped host with some other friends for my friend Monica. I am almost ALWAYS late no matter where I go but I was extra early this time. I got everything set up, got to see the guest of honor then had to head out the door.

We found out about Dylans work banquet AFTER we planned the shower and I felt that I needed to support the hubby at his banquet since he was getting an award. He's #1...again!

CONGRATS DYL!

I didn't get to take many pictures of the night but here are a couple.

Little Foot

Dylan has a new name for the baby.

First it was Marty, taken from one of his all time favorite movies, Back to the Future.

The babys new name is Little Foot, a little more gender neutral.

Dylan has started talking to the baby at night. I'm still not showing but he feels the need to stick his face right against my stomach and just chat for a few minutes. Its cute, but it may get old after 6 more months!

Heart

We had a Dr. appointment today and got to hear the baby's heart beat. I had to try really hard to not giggle when we were trying to listen.

Not that I had any major concerns but it sure does put any worries I may have had to rest!

Dylan was so excited about the appointment. Yesterday, he said he just wanted to go to sleep and not have to wake up till it was time to go.

It really is surreal hearing another heart beat inside you that's not YOURS.

Life's little miracles, never cease to amaze!

Murder in Margaritaland

Dylan and I hosted a dinner for some friends from our Sunday School class. I wanted to try something different so we decided on a Murder Mystery Dinner Party. There were tons of themes to choose from but with Spring/Summer right around the corner I decided with the Margaritaland (aka Margaritaville) theme. Everyone was a different character and nobody was a poor sport about it.

The killer was Lifesavin' Sam (Ben) and Coconut Joe (Dylan) was the only one the guess it right.

I know...

I know... its for a good cause, but why does your fat have to re-allocate itself to your waste when you are pregnant? My pants are already getting tight and at 13 weeks that's inexcusable! On a good note, I haven't gained a pound. Not sure how that is all working out. Maybe I'm just trading my muscle for fat?

I know... that men have NO idea what women are really going through when we are pregnant. WE ARE GROWING A HUMAN INSIDE OUR BODY. Please, just stop and think about that for a minute.

I know...that I could use a walk, but you know what? I just don't feel like it today.

I know... that being pregnant has numerous effects on you, but do they go away or come back once you give birth? I have lost my memory, my energy, my sleep (I know this part is gone forever), my patience, and above all, my BODY! And these are just the things I can remember!

I know...I am extra bitchy these days, sorry but you just have to get over it for another 6 months or so.

And finally, I know...Its only going to get worse, especially when I'm 200 pounds in 100 degree weather.

And then there were...

THREE!

Dylan and I are VERY happy to announce that we are EXPECTING!

I am 12 weeks along and due on September 3rd!

We have had 3 sonograms and all is well! We have seen the heart beat several times but will get to finally hear it on March 2! So, we figured it was time to spread the news!

We are excited, nervous, and everything in between. Say a little prayer for us and Baby to Be!

The picture is upside down but his/her head is on the right and you can see a little hand and foot.

Playa Update

Playa is back to normal. We took her to the vet for her 3rd check up today and she was given a clean bill of health. She's back to her old hyper self and annoying her big sister Carmen as usual.

Liz's Baby Shower

My girlfriend, Liz was in town over the weekend for a Baby Shower that was thrown by myself, Lauren, and her Mother. Its so fun to see all the little baby clothes. Crazy to think we were all that small once.

She looks so cute with her little belly growing. (Liz is on the left)

Vail

Last month, Dylan and went to Vail for 7 days. It was so great to get away and spend time with some friends in the snow.

Dylan hadn't skied or snowboarded before and I had only been 2 or 3 times so we were excited for something new and different. Dylan decided he wanted to try snowboarding instead of skiing for the week. After Dylan knocked himself out the first day, I was questioning whether or not I would let him back up the mountain! Thankfully he had a helmet on but that just says how hard he must have hit his head.

The rest of the week went much better. I skied 3 days, he snowboarded 4, we went to the Spa one day, relaxed one day, and visited other villages, i.e. Beaver Creek, another day.

We went with 5 other couples and stayed at Barry and Julia Watts' condo. The condo was perfect for everyone and we really appreciated them opening their home to us!

We were there for my birthday too! What more could I have asked for?!?!?!?!

Poor Little Playa

Playa is tiny. She is the cutest most precious little puppy ever. Unfortunately, that all came back to bite her this week.

Dylan was brushing his teeth last night and when he finished he stepped back. Little Playa must have really wanted to hang out with Dad at that moment because she ended up under his foot. She, of course, yelped and started to limp.

We were hoping she would be walking normal this morning but that wasn't the case, sadly. I called the vet this morning and took her in. We had a couple options but decided the best thing to do was to get her a prescription for an anti-inflamatory and keep an eye on her for improvement. If she isn't better by Thursday evening we will have to take her back for X-rays.

Dylan feels terrible and can't even look at her without feeling extreme guilt. I told him the vet said this type of thing is VERY common with little dogs, but that isn't helping him feel any better.

We will keep you posted.

Florida

Dylan and I got back from FL on Sunday (Dylan's b-day). Dylan has a work kick-off meeting type thing every year and I just go along for the ride. I went a day later this year. Since I took some time off for the Cotton Bowl (what a waste!) I figured I would give up a day in FL.

The weather was pretty cold on Friday so we just ordered breakfast in bed, had lunch with one of Dylan's co-workers and his wife, and got massages.

Liz picked us up around 5 and we went to dinner in Las Olas with her and Joey, then to The Cheesecake Factory for dessert. Everything was so good, we were all miserable and stuffed on our way home!

Saturday it warmed up so we went to the beach for the day. I couldn't imagine going to FL and not getting to go to the beach for at least a day! After the beach we headed down to Miami to hang out with Robert for the night.

Dylan turned 29 on Sunday so we celebrated a little while we were in Miami/Fort Lauderdale, going out, massages, nice dinners, we both had a really great time!

I took NO PICTURES! I didn't even realize till I got home. What a bummer!!!

Going It Alone

Dylan is out of town till Friday afternoon. He says its for work, but I'm thinking he just wants to get one night of sleep.

With Dylan gone and me having a 1 hour commute to and from work, I had to pack up and head to my Mom's. Not that I didn't want to, things are just easier on your own turf sometimes. The dogs know the house and where they can and can't go and we have hard wood floors so messes are MUCH easier to clean up from the puppy and being paranoid your kid (or puppy) is going to chew on the wrong thing or mess in the wrong place while at someone elses home can be a little stressful.

Dylan is really good about getting up with Playa in the middle of the night and taking care of all the dog stuff in the morning, feeding, potty breaks, playing out side every morning, etc. so its a little bit of a wake up call when I'm on my own.

But have no fear we will survive (I hope)

Closing out 2008

Holiday Season gets CRAZY!

With all the holiday parties, get togethers, festvities, visitors, and travels, we were pooped.

Dad came in town to celebrate Christmas the weekend before Christmas. Then we headed to Tulsa for more Christmas and then we finished up at Mom's the Sunday after Christmas.

While Dad was in town our family grew. Dylan has been wanting another dog, and although I don't think this is what he had in mind originally, she has stolen his heart, and every one elses.

I forgot about the puppy stage. They don't really sleep through the night. Her bladder is about the size of a pea so we are up twice every night taking her out. I guess its just getting me ready for the real thing, one day.
Carmen was pretty unsure about Playa the first couple days but they are used to eachother now. Carmen had to show her who's boss a couple times but Playa figured it out real quick. They get a long great now and even share a bed on occasion.

This was an outfit Mom bought her. Carmen thought she was a toy so we had to take it off after the pictures.

Dyl and I spent New Year's Eve, in the comfort of our own home. Keith and Dylan played Guitar Hero for about 5-6 hours and Beth and I fell asleep around 11. The guys woke us up just in time for our champagne toast and New Year's Kiss.

We went to the Cotton Bowl. Not really worth mentioning considering the outcome but whatever. We enjoyed the weather and hanging out with our friends for the last Cotton Bowl on the original Cotton Bowl field.

So, here's to a New Year, New Adventures, New Goals, New Dreams, and New Hopes. May this year bring Happiness to you all!!!
