My Evening

Vicki and I went to dinner again last night. I picked her up, then we went to Best Buy. I picked out a digital camera for her and then we went to J.Pepe's for dinner. We ate out on the patio because it was so nice outside. My friend Lauren met up with us later.

So we took lots of pictures with the new camera and then when I took her home she wanted me to set up a blog for her. Well...her computer won't let her download the software for the camera. She needs more memory. So stay tuned and hopefully she will get her blog up and we can all look at pictures of my nephews all day long. YEAH! I'll post the pics from last night when she gets them to.

This was me driving home and Vicki talking to Dad.

A little bit of everything

We won our softball game on monday. It was fun. Usually I can't hit for crap (so I just wait till they walk me) and I play ok in the field (only because I'm in right field and nothing ever gets hit over there...thanks goodness) Well, we played a team with a few left hitters and the ones that hit right had quite a hook. Needless to say, I didn't play so hot in the field. Most of the balls landed right in between me and the right center fielder, so I just let him have them. Its really hard to see where the ball is coming cause the bright lights are in your face and the sky is pitch black so my depth perception just doesn't work as well as I would hope. (Yes, I'm just making excuses). I got a hit but once I got to third, we had our 3rd out, very disappointing. One of our players was nailed on the back of the head with a ball. The other team was trying to throw her out at third, but I guess they thought her head was a better target. Needless to say, she made it to third, but has a knot to show for it.

Alison got back in town so now I have someone to play with again. I have lots of plans for the week/weekend starting tomorrow. An old friend is also in from out of town so I'll be hanging out in Dallas most of the time.

I went on a run (more like a walk) yesterday. I started strong, but I guess I overestimated my powers. I thought it would be a piece of cake. I had lots of energy and was ready to go. I started running, then decided that walking would probably be best. I haven't run in over 2 years so I just need to pace myself. I would run then walk then run then walk. I did this for about 6 miles. I'm not too sore today so I feel like I didn't get in a good enough workout. I also did some push-ups and sit-ups and a few weights for my shoulders. I'm getting ready for the summer. So while I was walking I found this great little park, its new and in an area that I hadn't been to in a while. They have hike and bike trails. Thats the plan for today, I'm going to change it up and ride my bike to the park then ride the trails. We'll see how long this lasts.

Recap of the Weekend

Went out friday, it sucked. I went to Quarter Bar with a few people. It's just not my kind of place. I can stand it for Happy Hour but not for a friday night.

My Aunt Gina is in town so we hung out here and there throughout the weekend. I just laid around on saturday and ran a few errands.

Sunday I went shopping with my Mom and Aunt. Sorry, Jamie, I really like shopping again. It was way over due! Clothes shopping and furniture shopping are two totally different things. The weather was just gorgeous yesterday. I was going to go on a bike ride, but I'm not familiar with the trail by my Mom's house and shopping was the other option...I just couldn't resist.

I have another softball game tonight, hopefully it will be better than last week. I'm also going to go for a little jog or some type of work out today. But then again I say that EVERY week!

What a night!

Last night I went to dinner with Vicki and Tross. What an entertaining night it was. I wish I had my camera with me. You'll just have to imagine it. I head out to Dallas to Vicki's. We were going to eat on a patio somewhere but then it got a little cooler and we are both cold ALL the time so we decided to eat the Kobe's, which is a nice japanese steak house in Addison. It was a 45 minute wait and for any of you that know my nephew, that is just WAY too long to sit. But Vicki had her heart set on it so we waited. We decided to go to the bar and have a drink. I think Vicki had one too many. Finally we sit down and Tross and Vicki just went at it all night. Not like they were arguing, just like they were brother and sister. It was quite humorous. This family next to us kept staring and the lady that took our drink orders well, I think thats what she asked for, hell, I couldn't understand her. Anyways, we had to take our shoes off as we walked in. Had I known that I would have worn some different shoes. I was wearing flip-flops. So I got to put my bare feet on the floor where everyone elses seaty feet have been and now I probably have athlete's foot or something. Not really, but thats all I could think about so I couldn't really handling eating a ton when gross sweaty feet was all I had on my mind.

The restaurant is off the toll way so on our way back we had to scounge (sp?) up some change. Well, sure enough we had NOTHING not one nickel. Vicki had a $5 but the machine wouldn't take it. We sat blocking the toll for a good 3 minutes and everyone behind us wasn't happy. Vicki was getting all excited and I told her to just chill out. Who cares who's waiting...HAHA. So finally the guy behind us yells, "I'LL PAY THE TOLL, JUST GO!!!" haha. So I just laughed at her and we drove off. It was much funnier if you were there...promise.

All in all I had a really good time eating with the them. Tross wants a mohawk like Angelina Jolie's son. His hair is getting longer but its not curly so its hard to do anything with it. Vicki may give him a mohawk this weekend then shave it off before school. I will take pics if and when that happens.

Friday pictures

Here are the pictures from our friday night flat a couple from when we were out. Please enjoy. ;o)

This is me attempting to get the tire out of the trunk. Clearly I was unaware that a picture was being taken. Its not exactly my best side!

This is me trying to lift the tire out of the trunk with absolutely NO HELP from my lovely friends! They were like the paparazzi, just watching and taking pictures!

This is me and Alison. We put our gloves on so we wouldn't get dirty.

Finally help arrives. I'm just waiting for the tire to be fixed. Please notice that Lauren is in the car and was for the majority of the time that Alison and I were attempting to look like we knew what we were doing...Lauren was just too cold! Alison later pointed out that I look like a hooker waiting to get picked up. Thanks Ali!

This is a picture at the bar AFTER the tire drama. I just want everyone to know that mechanics really have no excuses for being so dirty all the time. I just changed a tire and still look good ;o) hehe. (OK, maybe I didn't change it but I was really good at watching)
Just for Alison...I went ahead and did some editing!

Softball

We had a softball game tonight. We lost. I had fun. I suck and thats about all I have to say about that.

My weekend was pretty uneventful, except we got a flat on the way out friday night. I was with my friends Alison and Lauren. Needless to say they were more clueless than I was at changing the tire and they were just AMAZED that I could take the tire out of the trunk. They kept telling me I was going to get dirty. It was extremely entertaining and we even took pics as we waited for help. Its was way too dark for me to attempt it AND I was afraid I would get hit by a car. I've seen those videos where people are pulled over and get hit. I wasn't about it try it. I'll post the pics when I get them.

Cancun

My friend Gab got engaged in February. The wedding is in July in CANCUN! What better excuse to go on a vacation? I mean really, all I have to say is, "I don't have a choice, it's my friends wedding and I HAVE to go." hehe. We just decided on the dresses today, after about 50 emails back and forth between the bride and all the bridesmaids...

I couldn't put the picture on the page, Blogger wouldn't let me but if you click on the word 'dresses' it will come up.

YEAH! I'm going on a vacation!!!

I Hate Shopping!

I never thought I would say this but its true. I went shopping for living room furniture this weekend. Saturday I was out for about 5 hours. Visited about every furniture store you could think of. Just to name a few... Ashley's, RoomStore, Rooms To Go, Haverty's, Gabberts, Freed's, Bassett, Broyhill, and more. You get the point. Needless to say I found NOTHING! I was very disappointed. So then on sunday I see an ad in the paper for something similar to what I'm looking for. Once again we head out. We went to a few more stores, some of the same stores, just different locations. The first place we went I found something similar to what I wanted but was afraid I would find something else later, so we left and kept shopping. About 2 hours later, I said screw this and went back to the first place and bought the first couch that I had seen.

This picture isn't exactly what I bought but its pretty close. I just got the couch and a chair with an ottoman. I didn't get coffee tables or end tables. I didn't like what they had with it and I was not about keep looking. I figure once I get all moved in I can decide what kind of tables I want.

Erin Go Braugh!

What better place to go on St. Patty's Day than an Irish Pub? We headed out around 6:30 cause we knew it would be crowded. We got to Idle Rich around 7:15. Waited in line to park, waited in line to get in the gate (they had the parking lot blocked off and that is where you had to walk in at), then we waited in another line just to get in the building, and one more line to get a drink at the bar. Every line we waited in we thought about leaving but for some reason never did. Well, our persistence paid off, we walked to the bar just as some people were getting up. So finally around 8:00 we had our first drink and got to sit down. Everytime someone around us left, we took their stools and by the end of the night we had about 8 stools. Let's just say I have learned my lesson about going to an Irish Pub on St. Patty's Day!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

A few facts to get you through your day!
  • First American St. Patty's Day Celebration was in Boston in 1737
  • A Shillelagh is a short, stout, oak club
  • 'Erin Go Braugh' means Ireland forever
  • St. Patrick was not Irish
  • There are 34 million U.S. residents that claim Irish ancestry
  • The Irish immigrated to the U.S. due to the Great Potato Famine in 1845
  • The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place in the U.S., not in Ireland

Happy Hour with the girls

Went to Idle Rich Pub last night with the girls. Good times were had by all! ;o)

Matisyahu

My friend Liz is in town. I've mentioned her before (the one in the gold jumpsuit, you remember). Anyways, we went to a Matisyahu concert last night. The group sings/raps reggae for the most part. The funny thing is the guy is hacidic jew. I had a great time, mainly because I just people watched. As you can imagine it was quite a mixed crowd, mainly jewish people and hippees. I spent the last 30 minutes of the concert in the car for reasons I won't get into. (It wasn't because of me!) But either way I had a really good time. I wasn't sure what to expect so Liz's brother burned me a CD and I listed to it all week. Its actually pretty good stuff. It was definetly not something I would normally do so it was nice to do something different for a change. I didn't take many pics but here is what I have.

**If anyone sees Liz, ask her how her Zorps were wednesday night!

Homecomings

I haven't updated my blog in about a week. Things have been very uneventful, which is just the way I like it. I do have some good news though. Two of my friends are moving back home. Weird to think they moved away and then back and I'm still here. I swear I need a change in my life! I feel like I've been in the same place forever.

OK, anyways, my friend Alison has moved back from New York. We already have crazy fun things planned so that she doesn't get too bored. Going from New York to Dallas will be very challenging for her. Although, she will be keeping herself busy planning her wedding (she is getting married in June) and singing her little heart out (She went to NY to sing and will continue that here.)

My other friend that is coming home has been gone for quite a while. About 8 years or so. Indiana then Florida. Anyways, he has made it back and I'm sure the whole state of Texas will be happy about that, most of them anyways. I won't name names or say why he is back, but I WILL say congrats and God will be watching down on you.

On another homecoming note. My cousin Tiffany just bought a really cute dress for her homecoming. I'm sure she will be just gorgeous in it!!!

Oh, and its not really a homecoming but my uncle and grandparents are making the drive from Ohio to Florida to hang out and visit my Dad for a bit. Lets all keep them in our thoughts as they make the long drive.

Today was a good day!

After last week anything would be an improvement BUT...this week will go on the record books.

Today, I got my review from my boss. Was a little nervous seeing that I just came back from being out 3 days (although it WAS because I was sick). But hey I work hard, do my job, and also go beyond that when and if necessary. Verizon ranks people weird and the highest ranking you can get is very rare and limited. To make a long story short...I was ranked the HIGHEST, my bonus was MUCH more than I estimated (even higher than my target), AND my raise was GREAT! I Guess being a bitch does pay off...Told ya Dad! (Sorry Grandma!)

Verizon definetly has room for improvement as a company, especially when it comes to the way their employees are treated (i.e. they took away our pensions this year) but I must say, today was a good day and Verizon won't here ANY complaints from me!

Too bad most of you live in a different state...I'm going to celebrate and buy the whole bar drinks! haha!

Risin' from the Dead

Well folks, I'm alive, barely. I have had quite a rough week. I went to work like every other day on monday and tuesday, then tuesday night as I lay my little head down to sleep, I got sick and didn't recover till sometime around friday afternoon. I can honestly say that I don't think I have ever been that sick before, at least that I can remember, although being sick isn't something I would like to remember...Anyways, Dylan made dinner tuesday night (I think he did it on purpose... 1. to poison me and 2. so that I will NEVER again eat his cooking forcing me to cook for the rest of our lives.) Nachos and quesadillas are not very tasty the second time around. I ate and drank absolutely nothing for 2 whole days, I chewed a piece of gum wednesday afternoon between sleeping and through that up too. (Not the gum but the taste that comes with it.) I won't be anymore graphic but just know that I was strapped to the bed for over 72 hours. Getting up to let the dog out was a HUGE task. I would have to run to the door open it, let her out, run back to the bathroom throw up, then go try to find her outside. Thank goodness she is a good dog and doesn't stray because if she did I have to say, I would NOT have gone to look for her under the circumstances.

So friday I was able to sit up in bed and eat a piece of toast. I was afraid to drink too much liquid so I'm dehydrated like you wouldn't believe. I'm feeling better as the days go on, just trying to slowly gain more energy. I think I have officially deleted nachos and quesadillas off my lifetime menu. That could cause an issue since I live in Texas but if it means I never have to feel like I did this week, I'd do it in a heart beat!

Two good things that came out of all this. 1. I watched 4 movies... Elisabethtown, Domino, Walk the Line, and Hustle and Flow 2. I probably lost at least a pound or two. (Daytime TV sucks!)

Two things I learned this week. 1. Dylan is worthless in times of sickness. 2. Carmen is the BEST companion a person can have. She snuggled in bed with me all week!

Batter's up!

So I'm playing softball again with some co-workers. Yesterday was the first game of the season. I played 2 seasons with them last year in case you were not aware. The first season was a little shaky but the second season we got it together. Last night was fun. We were a little rusty in the beginning but figured it out towards the end. It ended up being too late though. We lost to the No Names 5-7. For those interested I walked my first at bat...Dad and Dylan give me a hard time for walking in a co-ed softball league but hey, if the pitcher can't pitch, I'm not just going to swing at anything. My second at bat I got a hit but didn't quite make it to first. I'm a little rusty on running the bases. I played left field and thankfully nothing but 2 foul balls went in my direction.

Saturday night was fun. Dylan got an award for RBG (Retirement Benefits Group) Associate of the Year! YEAH!!!!! He went up on stage and got his award and they also took some pictures. I was also escorted onto the stage by his boss and I got some roses and was in the picture. I was a bit unprepared for that, but of course, I managed to pull it off...hehe. As you can see, he was VERY proud of his award! *** Please be aware that all these pictures were taken at the end of the night somewhere between 12 and 2am. I promise I was presentable during the banquet. ;o)

This is me annoyed...and this is me faking a smile.

After the awards they had a casino night set up. Dylan played Roulette the entire night and lost EVERYTHING! I played Black Jack and won, of course. We each started off with $2,ooo in chips. I ended up with $10,200. Dylan ended up with zero. Not only did he spend his money but he would come around the black jack table about every 5 minutes and I was basically feeding him money. So in all he probably lost about $4,000.

On a brighter note...We are going to Vegas in April. I'm not so sure thats actually a good thing or a HORRIBLY bad idea!!! We have already discussed his limits. ;o)

Busy Week

I had had quite a busy week!!! I bought a new bedroom suite. I've had my eye on it for about 6 months now and it went on sale for President's Day so I bought it... I also bought a dining room table which was on sale (Yes, I sometimes buy sale items) and I signed a lease for an apartment. Guess its time I move...Again! Its a REALLY nice place, has a pet park for Carmen, a plyground for the boys, and a garage. Its not attached to the apartment but I'll be covered from door to door, in case its raining I guess... I wouldn't want to melt.

I also bought 2 dresses and 2 pairs of shoes...Only one if Dylan asks ;o). Dylan has an awards banquet this saturday and I figured on Wednesday that I better find something to wear. Dylan is just like my Dad in some ways it scares me! When I told him I was going shopping for a dress, he said, "Why can't you just wear the same one from last year.?" I just laughed!!! I mean, was he talking to ME and was he really serious?!?!?! The dress I wore last year was a little different and not really my style but I got a lot of compliments. It was one of those ugly on the rack but cute on...I was desperate so I just started grabbing stuff. Anyways, I couldn't imagine wearing that dress again. Before you start thinking I'm just a little snob, be aware that I would wear the dress again to a different function, not to the same one I already wore it to... OK, back to this weekend. I bought 2 dresses. One was for the party which is black tie and one was just a plain black dress that was too cute to pass up. I have 2 weddings in the next few months so I figured you can ALWAYS use a spear black dress for those occasions and now I won't have to go shopping again, right? Anyways, the dress I bought for this weekend had to be altered. I'm too talk for long dresses. The ones that are supposed to go to the floor only make it to my ankle so I decided to have it taken up to mid thigh...HAHA, just kidding. It will be tea length, just below the knee. I'll be sure to take pics and post them after the party. Hopefully, I haven't ruined the dress my getting it altered. I really have no idea what it will look like, but if I do I always have the black dress as back-up!

***That is a picture of my dress but it will look different since I'm having it altered and I'm not Middle Eastern. ;o)

Back to my busy week. After the dresses, and furniture, and signing a lease, I had to have 200 invitations made for our Annual meeting at work. That took up a great deal of my day, not that I WANTED to be sitting at my desk working, but somethings just have to get done. Tonight I have a hair appointment, which was scheulded BEFORE I knew the date of the party, but works out quite nicely anyways.

On top of all that, I have had a horrible back pain this week. I think I pulled a muscle, not sure how since I have done VERY little exercising...and when I say little, I mean none.

For some reason I've been all stressed and anxious this week. I feel like I have SO much to do! I still need to call the electric company, phone company, and the cable company to have all that set up. I have plenty of time since we don't move till April but knowing it has to be done is just stressful.

Now I just need to make a mani/pedi appointment (manicure and pedicure for the men who may be reading), take clothes to the cleaners, pick up my dress, and pick up my shoes. Plus I'm sure I'll have to do half of the things Dylan needs to have done before this party.

The best part of it all...I just keep thinking FREE drinks (at the party) and I FINALLY get to use my wine fridge (when I move)!

I have what???

So the verdict is that I have conjunctivitis (sp?) . Clearly I have no idea how to spell it and am amazed I can even remember it. The doctor says its VERY contagious and that I could have just gotten it from touching the door handle after some dirty person that doesn't wash their hands. Needless to say I will now be a clean freak for the rest of my life cause that is some sick stuff (sensored for my grandma). I now have to put 2 eye drops in each eye 3 times a day for 5 days. Have I ever told you how much I HATE putting stuff in my eyes???

I told the doctor its been like that for 2 days and I figured I'd rather be safe than end up blind...He says, "Oh, speaking of blind, if you use the medicine and it gets worse, COME BACK IMMEDIATELY, it could also be a herpes virus that is really bad right now and needs to be treated quickly and differently. " I mean, don't get me wrong, I trust that he knows more than me but wouldn't he want to find that out FIRST, before sending me off into the unknown and me possibly becoming blind??? My eye is better today, so he is lucky cause I would have sued his pants right off!

And lastly...Herpes, in my eye??? I thought that was a...Oh, never mind!

My Poor Eye

I have some kind of eye infections, you know like the kind you got in junior huigh when you would wait to put make up on at school cause your parents didn't let you where it so you just shared make up with like 15 other girls at school in the morning in the bathroom. Ya, thats the one I'm talking about. I was never big on make up but if I were, then I'm sure that would have happened to me back then. Anyways, I finally made a doctor's appointment. Yesterday my eye was all bloodshot and nasty and I just thought it would go away. Well, it didn't so I figured I'd better let the doctor take a look before I went blind. Plus it really is disgusting to have an eye infection. Its oozy and swollen and just gross. Mine isn't too bad but I don't want anything to get "oozy" that is located on my face!

False Alarm

False Alarm with Dylan...typical! I told him to take advil since he hadn't in the 3 days he has been sick. Sure enough I show up at his house to take him to the hospital, he gets in the car and as we are pulling up to the hospital he says, "You know what, I actually feel fine after taking the advil and putting a cold rag on my head. Let's go get something to eat." WHAT??? He calls me at work saying he really needs to go to the doctor, we pull up and he decides he is fine?!?!?! I'm glad he is fine but it was a tad bit irritating! I swear all men are the biggest babies when they are sick! My Dad and Dylan take the cake!

Poor Baby

I'm taking Dylan to the emergency room when I get off work today. He has been deathly ill for the last 3 days and has done nothing about it. He called me at work and said he had to cancel all his appointments for the day, the dog is driving him nuts (poor thing probably hasn't been out since friday), and he took his temp for the first time today and it was 103. Now I feel awful for him but when I asked if he had taken any advil, used a cold cloth on his face or open a window to get some fresh in the apartment...he said no, "No, I guess I'm just doing everything wrong." Well, I already knew that! So when we hung up I told him to go take some advil go back to bed and that I would take him to the emergency room when I got home. I will feel seriously horrible if its something other than the flu.

He almost passed out yesterday and is afraid to drive himself to the hospital. Lets just hope this is just a man being a baby and nothing serious!

Please say a little prayer for him!

I Never Tell a Lie

As promised we went out last night and I lit the town up... I'm sure I made a complete fool out of myself here and there but I was with my friends and we had a good time. Here are some pictures from Republic.

Just trying to show Liz my moves...Tonight I'm going to an engagement party then probably out again so I'll be sure to keep you posted on my adventures.

A Good Day!

So I think today will be a GREAT day! I just bought a pair of shoes...picture attached, yes, I do know how good I will look in them. ;o)

Also, the best part, thats right it gets better AFTER the shoes, my friend Liz is coming in town and we haven't hung out in ages...so we are going to get crazy tonight like we did in college!!! Yippee I can't wait. Here is a picture of Liz, I mean really, how can you NOT have fun with this girl?!?!?!?!

Tross's Last Game

Vitross had his last game on saturday so I went to the game, did the cheering aunt thing and then had to take him to his team party at Cici's since Vicki was moving and had to be home for the movers. Anyways, I just love the basketball games, they are just so entertaining and I can't get enough. A bunch of little kids running around not know what to do with this big orange ball, I just LOVE it. Here are some pics from saturday.

A Little Bit of Something

I haven't had much to talk about lately so I figured I'd just share some things that have been passed along to me... Here is a little something I got from a friend today. I've been a little stressed lately and sometimes you just need to hear stuff like this, as corny as it may be.

Someone will always be smarter. Their house will be bigger. They will drive a better car. Their children will do better in school. And their partners will fix more things around the house. So let it go and love you and your circumstances. Think about it. The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart. And the most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children. The richest woman you know -she's got the car, the house, the clothes - might be heart-breakingly lonely. So, love you. Love who you are right now. Tell yourself, "I am too blessed to be stressed."

Thought for the Day

"What doesn't kill me only makes me stronger."
